Infants at Walter Daw First School in Exeter started the year in a brand new environmentally-friendly, hi-tech building – part of Devon County Council’s school reorganisation programme. D-Drill (Master Drillers) Ltd of Shilton, Coventry, provided concrete drilling and other services for main contractor Midas Construction that contributed to the building’s completion on time and to budget.
D-Drill (Master Drillers) Ltd provided core diamond drilling of concrete for building services and wall chasings for conduits, together with holes in retaining walls for hand rails. Externally, the company carried out barrier post work.
Steve Lloyd of D-Drill’s Plymouth branch comments: ‘This is a fantastic new facility for the children. We carried out an extensive range of drilling work that contributed to the very high build quality of the new school.’
The £4.5million building has dedicated science, design and technology suites, a dance studio, library and computer room. It can accommodate up to 315 children.
Arthur Milford from Midas Construction comments: ‘As a main contractor, you need suppliers who can carry out the work right first time, with no rework. D-Drill are a very reliable organisation, as their work on the Walter Daw School demonstrates.’
